Money News PH | Singapore, July 15, 2025 — In a major step toward maritime decarbonization, Weichai Power Co., Ltd. has officially launched the President 100, Singapore’s first harbour ship powered entirely by 100% biodiesel (B100). The 16-metre vessel sets sail with advanced marine engines and is poised to lead the region’s green energy transformation on water.

The President 100 is equipped with two Weichai WP13C450-18BF marine engines and two CCFJ20J-W5BF generator sets, forming the core propulsion system of this pioneering project. Developed through a cross-sector collaboration, the initiative brings together Weichai, the China Classification Society (Singapore), Nanyang Technological University’s Marine Energy and Sustainable Development Centre (MESD), and local shipbuilder Pinnacle Marine.
The vessel will undergo a 1,000-hour continuous operational trial in Singapore’s port waters to gather critical real-world performance data, including emission levels, fuel efficiency, and long-term reliability of B100 biodiesel in maritime conditions.

B100 biodiesel represents a promising clean-energy solution with the potential to drastically reduce greenhouse gas emissions without requiring major modifications to existing diesel-based infrastructure. By optimizing its marine power systems for B100, Weichai Power is not only contributing to emissions reduction but also setting a benchmark for scalable, sustainable shipping technologies.
This launch positions Singapore at the forefront of biodiesel innovation in the maritime industry.
