Luis Enrique has given up his role as Spain coach following the surprise knockout round defeat by Morocco at the World Cup.

The 52-year-old took charge in 2018 and led Spain to the semi-finals of Euro 2020.

The Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) said a “new project” was set to begin but gave no timeframe for announcing a new boss.

“We would like to thank Luis Enrique and his entire coaching staff,” the RFEF said in a statement.
