Lack of snow threatens the Alps with a wet winter season

Just a few years ago, Swiss resorts were warned that skiing below 1,000m would likely become impossible over time as global temperatures increased. But this week the holiday resort of Splügen, which is considered “snow-sure” at 1,500 m, has closed until further notice.
