A BBC investigation in October named a total of 45 men, women and children who had died in protests in Iran. On this occasion, journalists used the same techniques we used here, starting with open source research and then moving on to outreach to sources, rights groups, relatives, activists and BBC Persians to collect and match data. In almost all cases, autopsy photos or burial photos were also taken.
