The 14.2-inch and 16.2-inch 2023 MacBook Pros are quietly getting $50 rebates three days after the announcement *checks notes*. The discounts are coming so soon after launch that the new Pros are still in pre-order mode and will officially start shipping on January 24th.
As of January 20th, only the base configuration and the Space Gray version will be on sale each, but don’t be fooled by the lack of red text and a strikethrough text – Amazon changed the “retail price” instead of making the discount obvious, which is a silent tactic we’ve seen before with ridiculously early Apple discounts.
Looking to spend less than $1,000 on your MacBook upgrade? Another of our favorite laptop deals this week is the 2020 MacBook Air(Opens in a new window)(Opens in a new tab), which is less than a dollar off its lowest price ever.
2023 MacBook Pro
Not every new Apple launch is particularly exciting. It’s more often than you think that the differences between the successor and its predecessor are negligible enough not to be worth the extra money. But the new Pro kinda leaves the old Pro in the dust.
At the forefront of that charge is an M2 Pro chip, which is said to compile code 25 percent faster and process images 40 percent faster than the 2021 M1 Pro chip. Other changes include support for WiFi 6E and expanded HDMI compatible with 8K display works.

However, if you think you’re perfectly happy with the M1 chip – which is undoubtedly still a beast compared to much of the competition – you can pick up the 2020 MacBook Air on sale for $799.99 at Best Buy( Opens in a new window). (opens in a new tab). That’s $200 off the MSRP of $999.99 and just 0.99 cents off the lowest price it’s ever seen.
The 2020 Air also saw appreciated upgrades like a really comfortable keyboard and Touch ID.
